Hey 80s' Music Fans! The Tubes are back, or should I say are back in the limelight again. Most of the original band members have reunited, and are actually on tour currently. Below we have outlined the recent history of the group, and a short back history. We have also included a list of their upcoming concert venues. Wow! "Shes A Beauty" Enjoy! Mac
The Tubes started as high school friends in Phoenix, who relocated to San Francisco in 1969 when drummer Prairie Prince got a full ride scholarship to the Art Institute of San Francisco. The band released nine albums over a ten year period with their original lineup of seven (sometimes nine-plus dancers). They’re known for thematic, experimental and highly choreographed production numbers in their live shows. They were pioneers in rock video, signed to A&M records in 1975 on the strength of a video and releasing a twelve song collection of very kinky music videos only months after MTV first went on the air. Lead singer Fee Waybill left the band in 1986 after the “Love Bomb” album bombed, and rejoined in 1993 after the remaining band members decided music was more important than cocaine. They have been recording and touring ever since. They are currently on tour, with four original members-Fee Waybill on vocals, Roger Steen on lead guitar, Rick Anderson on bass and Prairie Prince on drums. Check out the concert schedule below! Mac
